Why choose heat shrink tubing?
Heat shrink tubing is the go-to solution for protecting electrical connections, reinforcing strain points, and sealing cable harnesses against external threats (water, dust, corrosion).
Key benefits of our heat shrink tubing:
- Electrical Insulation: Certified protection for splices and terminals.
- Maximum Sealing: Dual wall versions with inner adhesive lining prevent any fluid ingress.
- Strain Relief: Reinforces the junction between cable and connector to prevent breakage.
- Visual Identification: Wide range of colours for quick circuit identification.
- Varied Shrink Ratios: Available in 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 to suit all connector shapes.
Our main heat shrink solutions
Shrinkflex® 2:1 / 3:1 / 4:1 (Polyolefin): Our most versatile standard range. Highly flexible and available in a wide colour palette, it is ideal for general insulation and cable management.
Adhesive Lined (Dual Wall) 3:1 / 4:1 / 6:1 : This tubing features an inner hot-melt adhesive layer. When heated, the adhesive melts and hermetically seals the connection. Essential for marine and underground applications.
Heatshrink Fabric (HNF): A unique solution combining thermal shrinkage with the mechanical strength of a braided fabric sleeve. It provides exceptional protection against abrasion and vibration noise.
Specialty (Kynar®, Viton®, Teflon™): For extreme environments requiring resistance to flames, fuels, or very high temperatures (up to +250°C).
Heat shrink tubing applications
Our shrink solutions are used daily across numerous industries:
- Marine & Boating: Sealing connections exposed to salt water.
- Automotive & Motorsport: Protection of engine wiring harnesses and battery terminal insulation.
- Industrial Maintenance: Quick repair of damaged cables and busbar insulation.
- Precision Electronics: Clean finishing and insulation of small components.
How to choose your heat shrink tubing?
- Shrink ratio: Choose a high ratio (3:1 or 4:1) if you need to slide the tubing over a large connector and shrink it down onto a thin cable.
- Recovered diameter: Make sure the recovered diameter after shrinking is smaller than your cable's diameter.
- Environment: Use adhesive-lined tubing wherever moisture is present.
- Shrink temperature: Check that your heat source (heat gun) is suitable for the chosen material.
General technical characteristics
- Materials: Polyolefin, PVC, Fluoropolymers, Elastomers.
- Ratios: 2:1, 3:1, 4:1.
- Operating temperature: From -55°C to +250°C depending on the model.
